The Flat Tax

This just seems right.

I am not sure I understand why the rich should pay a higher tax for the same government that poor people have. In essence, the rich pay for a welfare state that in many ways only reinforces poverty. Now I can see the argument that it is charitable and morally right for those with more to support those with less. But this argument does not fit the liberal spirit.(classic or otherwise)

If the liberal ideology is all about protecting one's property and securing one's happiness then how does the liberal constituency justify unequally stripping money from a portion of the population. Should not liberals argue for a flat tax rate? And sense when does a moral imperative drive liberal agendas? It seems odd that liberals would force their moral belief in giving to the poor upon members of society. Isn't the liberal call to arms, "Don't force your morality on me!"?

Oh well, I will have to reside in my confusion.
