Memory Lane...

I love Trader Joe's! I found these on Friday while going grocery shopping and could not believe it. I developed a taste for lychees while working in a clinic in South Africa. Our patients were accustomed to paying for medical services, so although we did not except payment, they would bring us plenty of goodies as a thank you. My favorite clinic goody was a giant box full of freshly picked lychees. They were the "clean hands" snack--we discovered we could pinch off the rough shell without touching the fruit--thereby eliminating the need to wash your hands before dining...which was very helpful considering there was no running water within 5 miles of the clinic! Yummm!! I haven't been able to find good, fresh lychees in the US :( but these are a close second! I think they might make a nice tropical "cinnamon" roll, chopped dried lychees blended with coconut, nutmeg and white sugar to make the filling...I'll let ya know if they're any good!
