Valentine's Day

Valentine's day tradition...heart shaped cookies! I started making John heart shaped chocolate chip cookies our first valentine's day and it kinda stuck :) this time I "winged it"--since I didn't eactly have all the regular ingredients (not enough butter etc) I decided to fudge it and work with the dough until it resembled a good cookie. They came out really good--with a merguine-like crunchy top and a gooey inside. For those who are curious: I used about 3 tablespoons of regular margarine, 2 tablespoons light smart balance, 3/4 cup white sugar, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons light sour cream, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (I like the coarser salt in sweet baked goods--I like the sweet and salty contrast), 1 teaspoon baking powder and about 2 1/2 cups flour. Any cooks/bakers out there have any clue as to why they came out meruinge like?
