Diversity...in the workplace fridge?

It is no surprise that my workplace is diverse. But occasionally even I am shocked by just how diverse it is. It is always the little things that surprise me. Like the refrigerator. This morning I realized that my soup and salad were sitting next to a bottle of fermented camel milk.

That's right: there is fermented camel milk in our fridge: otherwise known as "Chal" it is a drink that is described as a white sparkling beverage that has a sour flavor (I can testify to that--once someone brought some in to share--not really a flavor I think Starbucks will pick up anytime soon). And then there was the package of dried seaweed. There is also a box of Russian juice...at least I think it is juice...I actually don't know what it is but there was a picture of a dragon and a tree with some berries on it...I'm guessing juice... There was also a jar of homemade kimchi. And a bottle of homemade borscht. And these exotic items are interspersed with entirely "white-bread" american classics like leftover pizza--and they just make such an odd impression when you open the fridge every morning! These are the little moments in my day that make me go "hmmm"...

I'm going to go into shock if I ever have a job where everyone brings the typical American fare to the work fridge!
